05.03.2007 - Labadee, Haiti
Labadee was originally the only stop where we didn't reserve any excursions. Well, that changed before we came there - We decided to take a one hour waverunner tour, and we are glad that we did. It was wery nice... Arriving at Labadee At Labadee, the ship is Tendered, which means queues to get out of the ship and back to the ship. Well, that is, if you want to be the first one to get out, and last one to get in :) We didn't experience any queues when we left the ship, since we weren't in such hurry to get out of the ship. The beaches Labadee, being Royal Caribbean's own place, was very nice and clean place. There were many beaches to choose from. If you want to have a little quieter place, then you have to walk some distance - The beaches nearest to the tendering station were all quite full - But the farther you went, they started to be less and less populated. (And really, it's still only about 0,5km walk !). Waverunner Tour Well, it was a lot of fun - and it costs $89.00. That is, if you take it alone. Extra passenger was, if I remember correctly, additional $39.00. The waverunners went up to 70km/h, and the group was divided by the "fast goers, and slow goers", which means that the fastest drivers were in the front, and the slowest ones would stay behind and the order would change, if someone in behind would like to go faster than the people in front. We, as being at the front of the group, got to drive as fast as the waverunners went. We went 1-3km / at the time, and then waited for rest of the group. And tour guide would tell you information about Haiti. If you take this tour, it is recommended to have small amount of cash with you, since there is a possibility to buy hand made things from local Haitians. Back to the Beach After the waverunner tour, we went back to the beach. Getting back to the ship Ok, we left back to the ship quite late, meaning long queues before tendering station. So our recommendation is, that you leave a bit early to avoid long queues! Show of the Evening After dinner, it was showtime as usual. Evening's entertainment was "The Rain - Beatles experience". And sure, they were almost as good as the real thing! After the show, Nikke decided to take a look at "The Quest", which launched 10.45pm. It is described as the craziest game on the high seas (Adults only!). The Quest is a game, where audience can also participate (And have to, actually). For example, if the competitiors need 2 pairs of jeans to take off and show to the judge (Our cruise director, Casey), and they didn't have it themselves, they needed to get it from audience. And also many other crazy stuff - You just need to go and see it yourself. |
